Campaign Contributions and Special Interest Groups

Press Release

Date: Oct. 29, 2016

We should be able to trust that our elected officials are honest in where contributions to their campaigns originate. During his time in the State Assembly, Leonard Lance pushed for a law that would have allowed members of the legislature to reimburse lobbyists for gifts up to 13 months after receiving them, effectively erasing those gifts from the public record.

For too long now, a tsunami of money from special interests has flooded the pockets of politicians, drowning out the voice of the voters. We must fix our broken campaign finance system. We must restore the voice of the people to Congress. We must come together this November 8th and put leaders in Congress who put community first. This is why we support the American Anti-Corruption Act and why we believe that it is time to move to fully public financing of elections.
